Basic Theory and Skills of Traditional Chinese Medicine—Taiwan Daren seminar

Upon invitation, a delegation of 27 teachers and students led by vice president Huang Guoguang from Daren University, Taiwan visited our college for exchange and study on May 24 to 27, 2019.

Luo Xiaoqing, the vice president of our college and deans from relevant departments warmly received the delegation and held a brief opening ceremony. President Luo warmly welcomed the visits of teachers and students of Daren University, and gave a brief introduction to the College.

The delegation attended the seminar on Basic Theory and Technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Department of Nursing, the Department of Clinical Medicine Science and the Department of Pharmacology. Teachers and students from the delegation learned the origin and basic techniques of scraping and cupping in the Nursing Department. They listened carefully and took an active part in scraping and cupping practice; they learned about the application of Chinese rehabilitation therapy such as acupuncture, massage and Baduanjin (a form of martial arts) in modern rehabilitation medicine in the Department of Clinical Medicine Science, and learned about Chinese kungfu firsthand; they later visited the herbal medicine collection gallery at the Department of Pharmacology, and learned the use of traditional Chinese scales, made sachets and tasted traditional Chinese medicine diet.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the affiliated Suzhou Eye Hospital and affiliated Huaxia Stomatological Hospital, and learned about the mode of training optometrists and dentists in mainland China and the social services of the two affiliated hospitals.

The Taiwan delegates showed a keen interest in the basic theory and technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Meanwhile, the delegation gave a high praise to the construction of training base, affiliated hospitals and campus culture in our college.

The visit of Taiwan Daren University effectively promoted in-depth communication between teachers and students of both sides and cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. Our College will continue to take the "Health Care function of TCM" as a platform, make full use of the professional advantages of our College's major characteristics, launch short-term exchange student projects of TCM health care, such as TCM, acupuncture, massage, TCM nursing technology, and carry out in-depth professional exchanges and learning activities.
