1911 --- Private Nursing School of Boxi Hospital

In 1911 the school was founded by American surgeon Sue Mayer.

Address: No. 36, Tianci Village, Suzhou City (No.2, Shizi Street, Suzhou City for the present)

1951 --- Sunan Suzhou Nursing School 

In November of 1951, the school was taken over by the government and was renamed Sunan Suzhou Nursing School.

In November of 1952, the school incorporated Suzhou Private Xin Min Health School.

1953 --- Jiangsu Suzhou Nursing School

In May of 1953, the school was renamed Jiangsu Suzhou Nursing School

In August of 1953, the school incorporated Jia Ding Nursing School

In July of 1956, the school moved to new address: No. 20, Shuyuan Lane, Suzhou City (the old site for Jiangsu Governors’ Administrative Office)

1958 --- Suzhou Medical Professional College & Affiliated Nursing School

In July of 1958, on the basis of nursing school, Suzhou Medical Professional College and its Affiliated Nursing School were set up.

In June of 1962, Suzhou Medical Professional College suspended and the Affiliated Nursing School maintained.

1965 --- Jiangsu Suzhou Health School

In 1965, the school was renamed Jiangsu Suzhou Health School.

In 1996, the school firstly run a pilot scheme of five-year higher health vocational education.

In 1999, the school was authorized by the Ministry of Education as the key state secondary vocational school.

In 1997, the school and the affiliated No.1 People’s Hospital Health School of Suzhou Medical College were merged into one.

In 2002, the school and Suzhou No.2 Health School were merged into one.

2005 --- Suzhou Health College

In 2005, the school was upgraded to Suzhou Health College approved by the Ministry of Education and authorized by the government of Jiangsu Province.

In 2007 and 2010 respectively, the school passed the assessment of The Talents Cultivation Level Assessment Project for Higher Technical and Vocational Institutions launched by Ministry of Education.

In September of 2005, Shihu new campus was put into use. Address: No. 28, Kehua Road, Northern District of Suzhou International Education Park.

2015 --- Suzhou Vocational Health College

In 2015, the school name was changed into “Suzhou Vocational Health College”.

In 2016, the school was defined as the Exemplary Higher Vocational College of Jiangsu Province.
