National Treasure, Medical Inclusiveness—The Opening Ceremony of SVHC's 2024 Spring Semester International TCM Wellness Training Program Held Successfully

On the afternoon of March 8, the opening ceremony for the 2024 Spring Semester International Traditional Chinese Medicine Wellness Training Program of Suzhou Vocational Health College was successfully held in Conference Room A314 in the School of Pharmacy. People attending the ceremony included Mr. Xu Li, Head of the International Students Section of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Suzhou University of Science and Technology, Ms. Gu Shuxin, Director of the International Cooperation Office of SVHC, Mr. Lin Qing, Deputy Director of the School of Clinical Medicine, SVHC, Ms. Sheng Jiejin, Head of the Foreign Affairs Section of the International Cooperation Office, SVHC, and 30 international students from Africa and other regions. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Sheng Jiejin.

 

Ms. Gu Shuxin delivered the opening speech. She pointed out that TCM is a national treasure of China and has made significant contributions to the prosperity of the Chinese people over a long period. It has also had a positive impact on the progress of world civilization. She expressed her hope that SVHC's "Wumen Medicine" International Promotion Base could provide learning opportunities for international students from around the world, leading them into the magnificent world of TCM culture, in which they could experience the long-standing and profound Chinese civilization.

 

Mr. Xu Li emphasized that TCM has a long history in China and has now spread to nearly 200 countries and regions. The international community has become more appreciative and aware of the magical effects of TCM, which not only flourishes within China but also spreads its fragrance abroad. He encouraged students to continuously improve their understanding of Chinese culture and TCM’s way of thinking, to disseminate the wisdom of TCM, and to bring TCM to more countries and regions to benefit humanity.

Since its establishment in 2023, SVHC's "Wumen Medicine" International Promotion Base has been committed to providing a training platform for foreign medical personnel, teachers, and students. It actively cooperates with institutions such as Soochow University and Suzhou University of Science and Technology to offer specialized elective courses for international students in Suzhou. This is aimed at enhancing the capacity for international exchange and cooperation in TCM, expanding the social impact and international influence of TCM's international exchange and cooperation efforts, and better serving the national strategy.
