Poetry Transmits Ancient Rhythm, Reading Touches People's Heart-Myanmar International Students from SHVC Participated in “Happy Reading Huai'an”, Theme Activity of “Happy Reading Jiangsu”

From May 17 to 18, Myanmar international students from Suzhou Health Vocational College and 120 international students of 40 different countries from 33 provincial universities went to Huai'an to participate in the Launching Ceremony of "Reading Jiangsu" Theme Activity ("Reading Huai'an") for international students in Jiangsu Province in 2024. The event was organized by Jiangsu Education Department and co-organized by International Students Education Management Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Society. The reading activity aims to enhance the understanding of international students on the contemporary development of China and the excellent traditional culture by reading books related to the culture of Jiangsu Province, and visiting the China Canal Museum, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Training Base and Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall. It is hoped that they can experience the historical and cultural heritage of Huai'an, the "Canal Capital". The program aims to enhance international students' knowledge of China's contemporary development and excellent traditional culture, and to better promote Chinese culture.

At the opening ceremony, HNIN YAWAI AYE, as the representative of international students of SHVC, went on the stage to receive books, and recited Zhou Enlai's poem "I yearn for a new spring" and sang the melodious song "March in the Spring" together with EI EI PHYO and HNIN YU YU HLAING. The whole audience applauded continuously. Afterwards, the international students listened to the micro-class "Huai'an in the Sound of Canal Paddles" in the Auditorium of Huaiyin Institute of Technology to learn about the history of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and experience the charm of the Canal Culture Corridor on the spot. As international students majoring in medicine, they experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese medicine by experiencing the real-life classroom of Chinese medicine culture and learning to do Ba Duan Jin. These not only enhanced their understanding of TCM, but also promoted the exchange and integration of Chinese and foreign cultures. In addition, the international students enjoyed the national intangible cultural heritage of sugar painting, and completed their unique works under the guidance of Mr. Dai Wulin, the municipal-level inheritor of Huai'an sugar painting. During the activity, the international students also visited China Canal Museum and Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall. Through the field trip, they got a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture, and felt the profoundness of Chinese culture.

After the activity, EI EI PHYO, SHVC’s international student from Myanmar, said, "This activity was colorful and made me feel the charm of ancient Chinese poems and the culture and history of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In the future, I want to study hard, constantly improve my Chinese language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture." The activity allowed international students to experience the profoundness and profundity of Chinese culture in reading and visiting, and enhanced their knowledge and understanding about traditional Chinese culture.
